As far as Drag Racing an ATX goes, what pressure are you running in those street tires? Also are you going through the water box and burning them up, or driving around with no burn-out? You want to avoid the water and burnt out on street radials. Also try running 25 psi in the fronts and go up or down depending how traction goes. I also like to give it a baby burn-out by foot braking it and then flooring the car before the stagging area just to get rid of any sand, or debris on the tires before launching.

The biggest problem with the 60ft time in an ATX is not really the launch, but the fact the stock converter if similiar to the Escort's 4EAT-F is a 2200rpm stall, and the first gear is sooo long it hurts the 60ft. I would recommend buying M/T 22X8.5r14 ET Street Tires. A 22" Tall tire is considerably smaller then the factory tires which in turn will shorter your gears. 2.4 is a decent 60ft for an automatic. Best last year I did was a 2.5 but this was on a unpreppared shit surface. I also had plenty of tuning issues.
