My order was placed in October - the first week order banks were opened and I don't have a VIN, build date, etc. I think it may have to do with the dealer's allocation and size and, perhaps, the options. My order is with a very small, rural dealership on a Titanium with all options except the two-tone seats. Given the pricing and treatment I've received for years at this dealer, I can stand a "slight" delay.

That said, does anything think the higher optioned cars, with all the technology orders factors into the mix?

That may be. I've got the Touch system, if that makes a lick of difference.

Have you asked the dealer for more information?

Yes, checked last Friday with the general manager, who does the orders and from whom I've ordered 5 or 6 cars, and he didn't have a build date. He's very good about keeping me informed about what's going on. He told me an interesting story:
Another customer saw a Titanium sitting in a motel parking lot one morning and waited until the driver came out. Turns out, the guy is a Ford employee. He gave him a "full tour" of the Focus and said he'd been driving it for several weeks. His final words, "This is the best handling, most enjoyable car I've ever driven."
The customer came home and ordered a Focus.

Seems like you're in the same boat as me. I'm in a rural area and ordered a Titanium hatch in early January. My salesman just informed me last Friday that he should have a VIN for me by the end of this week.

No VIN here yet either, though the sales manager is expecting to have some information soon. I did however see a new Explorer in Kona Blue yesterday....WOW!!! Can't wait for my Kona Focus Titanium now!!!!

Looks like shipment is in full swing across the pond. They're reporting that the new 2012 Foci are moving at a rate of 500 per day. We can't be too far off from that.
