I think that would work fine if you don't mind soldering when its down there. The gears aren't screwed in place, but you can probably get the board off without spilling gears. They aren't terribly complex to put back together if you do drop them though, my dad took them out and cleaned them up while I was cleaning my connectors and had no trouble putting it back together.

Thanks.

To make the access eaier, I think I can remove the wheel, then the black rubber splash guard behind the wheel (should be easy), then the area will be wide open.

You can also pull the headlight/battery out and its just right there. Don't even have to jack the car up! just reach in and grab it. Thats what I did for it. I pulled the whole set up out though, so you might not need to take the battery out. And word of experience, it didn't do the trick for me and my IMRC is still not working :( I even went as far as removing all the components and cleaning the entire mother-board, gears, and every connection I could find. Then re-applying with very nice solder.

I pulled ours completely out, problem I had is one of the screws that held the board in was just rusted and we ended up rounding the phillips head. Ultimately we ended up screwing around with the thing, finally got it apart and everything looked fine, no corsion on the contact, nothing.

We replaced the IMRC completely and the car ran 100% better and the code was gone.

There must of been something else wrong with our other than what's been discussed, cause we went over that box and all connections, including cable and nothing appeared to be out of order.

Fact still remains, we installed the new one just as the old came off and DONE !

My mistake I did leave out the 1. Was posting from my crappy phone...anyways still beats 300-something if you HAVE to replace it. And if anyone knows a cheaper place to get one by all means share with the rest of us. Thanks for the correction bostonman
