Sorry, you were probably wondering how I would get the extra wire in there to go behind the trim and not be in front or something, right? As well as be able to disconnect. I added more pictures and updated this with the Wiring Info.

The new pics are the most "put back together" to see for now. I have to finish things up with the gauges (lights and needles) so I'm not putting it all back like normal only to disassemble it again.

Just ran across this - thanks for posting.

BTW, there is a brief write-up on doing this for an older Focus on FocalJet.

I was planning to try this over the holidays, but then I realized - As designed, the door and window switches only light up when the engine is running. When the engine is running, I typically don't want to open the trunk. When the engine is off, if I open a door, I can see where the hatch release button is b/c the dome light comes on.

So for me it wasn't really something I would find useful.

What I would like would be lighted cruise control buttons, but I think those are just painted on and would be REALLY difficult to do.

I tend to open my trunk more at night (for someone else needing to go in it) or with the engine off, so it works for me. And, it was kinda just my OCD that it had the see-through white plastic, but no light lol.

I actually planned on doing the Cruise Control buttons too - way more practical and useful. Of course things happen and finances get messed up, so I had to put that aside =/ It def won't be easy, but I would think it's do-able, in a similar fashion to the trunk button. The main issue is that because the letters are just painted on, you'd have to basically cut each one out - very tedious; then fill or cover with glue or whatnot. I will do it eventually and make a How-To just in case.
