I hear alot of SVT owners tell me that they need to be changed every 35k..

You sure they weren't talking about the Serpentine Belt for the 35K?

Doing the Timing Belt every 35 is quite a bit early, IMHO.

35k is VERY early. 100-120k is roughly the factory recommendations, however most do it around 70-90k. The Ford tech that did mine, said it's mainly the pulleys not the belt that go bad first. Just make sure you replace those every time.

i did gates timing belt ford tensioners and water pump and a fuel pump at 142k....yah I pushed it.

all the parts that came off my car looked fine...the belt looked brand new lol...not a sign of wear on the timing belt.

the plastic blade things were a bit dirty and scarred up but other than that it looked fine.

did mine at 75k miles a year ago (12/2009) because the car was six yrs old, didnt want to push it longer as im the 3rd owner and wasn't sure of the PO's maint regimne....i need this car everyday and didnt want to spend bundles on a new head/valves/pistons.
