i could tell you right now, the svt vs the 5.0 in our driveway (has a bad ignition box right now, won't rev above 4k rpms) which has 40k on rebuilt engine and 230k on stock t-5 would be a close race.

Well a stock 5.0 with just suspension, slicks, 3.73s and a catback run mid 12s. Bone stock they run 14.2. with gear and a catback they can run 13.5. So my bet is the 5.0 fox. Now if this was a 94/95 5.0, that would be a different story.

My buddy has a 5.0 with 330k on the shortblock and it's been making 278rwhp since 188k. They are a more durable motor then you think.

A 5.0 fox does not run 14.2 stock. 14.9 maybe. The majority of them that are stock with over 150k miles might pull at 15.2. That being said, it is very possible to get a stock motor 5.0 fox in the 12s with a real good suspension and the right gear and driver.

Guess you haven't raced anyone that can drive. My friend has 330k on his and it pulled a 13.4 @ 106mph with gear, exhaust and a tire, not to mention he busted his tranny and couldn't go higher then 3rd so he just pinned the limiter the rest of the way down.

14.2 is what they run with a good driver (this is not uncommon) and there are some factory freaks too. Another buddy had a pure freak that ran 13.6 bone stock on street tires, it was awesome!

It is possible because it's done all the time! bolt-ons, suspension, gear, tire and 12.6 is what my friends dad runs.

Focus is not made for the quarter.

But to answer your question. Yes your 2300lb FI focus that runs 12.9 can beat a bone stock full weight 5.0 from the late 80s, early 90s at the dragstrip.
From light to light on the street though it's gonna be close since you run that time with slicks at a dragstrip.

did i step in something? i could have swore his sig said he was going for 10s n/a with a stock 5.0 shortblock? am i misunderstanding something or am i wrong to say that no way in hell in a stock 5.0 shortblock is going 10's with heads and a intake, headers, and a cam? my cousin has 4.10 gears, BBK shorties, a BBK CAI, a B303 cam, roller rockers, a superchip and some porting and polishing and went 13.7 at a lil over a hundred. I think 102mph.
