You may be making that much hp but I'm sure your not making that torque. The 2.3 is a torquey SOB.

I'm not disagreeing with you

it's all good...... you want torque, drive my 1990 mazda LOL. 145whp 190wtq from the factory (BUT.... that has nothing to do with this at all.)

I know what ya mean. My first foci was a 05 2.0L with the light mods you speak of. My second was a 07 ST; even in stock form the ST was whole different beast.

This. The D23, even stock is a totally different critter that can only be compared to the SVT(stock for stock, anyway), both of which walk other Foci with basic bolt ons(I know from experience).

But to answer Your initial question, two words: Not very.

As was said though, the aluminum flywheel will eliminate the hanging revs all too common from the big chunk of pig iron(I know it's not pig iron, it just weighs like it) We call a flywheel. A clutch upgrade wouldn't hurt either, especially if You plan on going FI.

Well, I'm not sayin your lyin... specially bout that 2.3, but a built zetec vs. a built duratec 2.0 are completely different as well. My zetec has all the basics... Volant intake, SVT exhaust conversion from the headers back, lightweight flywheel, and a tune, and it's a peppy little mother blocker. I wouldn't call her "fast", per-say, but she is fairly quick.

On the other hand, a 2.0 dura with the same mods (not that they are all compatible...) Doesn't have quite the "pep" a zetec does...

The only thing worse than a 2.0 dura is Bontoft's modded SPI... haha.

I dont really get it I guess. Two cars with the same whp/wtq with very similar engines in cars that weigh the same should be about even. Like I said, is the ST geared differently? Stock ST times are 7.9 0-60 and high 15s in the quarter. I have driven enough cars now to know the feel and thats about what mine feels like now. Should go run it.

Don't think the gearing is different at all. A quick trip to a dyno would tell you exactly where you are as far as power.
