I just used a larger filter (no adapter - possible ground clearance issue on lowered vehicles, mine is not lower than the oil pan - I'm not worried) and it took 5qts top get to the bottom of the "crosshatch" - so a hair more than 5qts to be dead-on when warm.
Wix 51516 is stock - I'm guessing they are using the 51515.
If so, it is the same thread, same bypass rating, same Anti-Drain Back Valve, with a few differences:
.4" Taller
.7" Wider
higher burst rating (290lb vs. 275)
and better filtration media = cleaner oil

For the techies:
Wix 51516: Beta Rating 2/20=14/31 OR 50% efficient at removing 14 micron particles and 95% efficient at 31 microns
Wix 51515: Beta Rating 2/20=13/23 OR 50% efficient at removing 13 micron particles and 95% efficient at 23 microns

That's about an 11% increase in oil capacity (cooler and lasts longer).
