How-To: 00-04 AC vent (2) gauge pod

ok i did not take step by step pics cuz it popped in my head to do
a how to half way in the making so i did my best to tell what i did
will add pics and info as i go ....








first i took the gray ring off the black back that hold the vent and stuff..
then i popped the vent and other moving parts out out the black part..
then i put the ring back on the black part and plastic welded the bottom
of the back part to the gray ring part..
(did this cuz the top of the gray part has 2 clips and the bottom of the black part has 2 clips)
then i cut away all of the black part i did not need , dont need the black on top just the part with the clip on the bottom..
(once cut away i plastic welded the 2 parts together in a few spots)
also had to trim the part that holds the open/close dial part off, along with some tabs on the inside..
then picked up about 2'X2'' of some ABS tube at OSH for like $0.57
and cut 2 rings about an inch long..
then snap the ring back into the dash...
then i placed the 2 inch rings into the vent ring
at where i think i want my gauges to be..once it looked good i plastic welded
the 2 rings to the vent ring..then popped it back out the dash....


then i used 2 of the vert. fins from the inside of the vent to trace out
the shape of the 2 big gaps



then placed them where i wanted them and plastic welded them in place



once that was done i used some plastic epoxy (the clay like mix stuff)
and filled in the gaps and smoothed it all out , then sanded it all smooth
to get some nice smooth curves



then a shot of primer to see how its going to look



just a little more work and she should be good to go



[once i get this done i will take pics of the first steps by starting a 2nd one]

let me know if you need help , but its not hard just takes a while to cut and smooth stuff out
