I think the Focus bodystyles will be 5 door hatch, the 4 door sedan, and the 5 door mini-mini-van. The van is simliar to the Mazda5, and I think called C-Max.

I wish they would bring over the wagon. Sigh.

If you want a cheap Sport Compact there is the Fiesta.

People will buy these, yes the tide of owners may turn from College Level kids to Late 20's to Early 30's but that is because the car will cost more. If you want everything this has to offer well then you gotta pay for it, plain and simple.

Kudos to Ford on making a world class car. I will be buying one.
I think $30k is way too high for MSRP. Based on the HP and lack of AWD, it looks like Ford wants to compete more with the MS3 than STI or Evo. I'm thinking base MSRP will be around $26-27k. That will also give Ford room to eventually bring out a new RS later, which would then compete with the STI and Evo in the $31-32k range.

Awd is not the end all be all for performance cars. if the driver still drives like shit it cant save him at all. plus they have a tendency to fall on their face after 120 unless they are pushing 400+ hp. you ahve to remember the weight and parasitic losses from an awd system. plus most have understeer at higher speeds, just like a fwd.

that said i want that car. end of story.

And MSRP should be $30K when it comes out. Look at the MSRP for the Fiestas for proof on why this one will be so much. The base model Foci will be 24K-26K MSRP. Also remember that's MSRP, I bet when they come out I can walk out of a dealer at $25K if the MSRP is $30K.

I'll just not say anything about Ford in regards to the RS, but why spend close to 30K on a car w/o awd?

Fully loaded Mazdaspeed3, $27-28k, Mustang V6 loaded $30k, Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 with track pack $31k...

Plenty of cars are in that range.

It could be 30K Because it will have a better interior, better gas millage and a lot more options than you'd get from the STI or the EVO I'm guessing.

But I'm going to say its going to be around 28K. not any higher because then your pretty much in the Mustang GT prices and if you wanted performance then just get one of those. This is probably my next car. I'm curious what colors they'll have. I'd have to see this orange in person to see if i like it.
