The problem was i started on it before it was even close to being broken in. I got the car with 75 miles on it, 425 miles before it was broken in.

I bought my Focus new as well. While I wasn't -learning- stick at the time, I paid no attention whatsoever to the "break-in period." I drove the piss out of that thing. At 45k miles, still no tranny problems.

I learned on my 05 with 400 miles and at 78k the clutch is still running strong.

Operator error, plain and simple.

We've filed a formal complaint with ford, so now we just have to see what happens.Apparently what broke was a shift pin and they told me the only ways it could break is 1. not using the clutch and 2. racing. i dont do any of that. Needless to say, i think Miracle Ford was jerkin around in my car and broke it.

SSH!! No part ford puts into their cars is EVER Faulty! Every Service writer knows that!! It must be his fault!

Seriously, this is why finding a dealership you can trust is so damn important. good luck man.

Personally, i'd ask for the detailed engineering report that details exactly why this had to be my fault. (Rockwell tests, failure analysis, etc.) But, i'm a dick, so ymmv.(the point being, obviously, they NEVER do this. At least at the dealers. )

EDIT: whoa, necropost. sorry guys. any results?
