Thanks A Bunch!

I can't speak as to whether all Foci behave this way, but the seat belt alarm in my 2001 wagon annoys you every other minute when the engine is running, whether or not you are in motion.

If I want to eat my fast-food lunch in my parked car, and I want to keep the engine running to take advantage of the A/C or heat, then I have to put up with the alarm. That, or wear my seat belt.

OR, I can use the process described in gonzorelic's post to turn it off.

Ah! Blessed silence.

so why are you guys sooo worried about seat belts?
is there not a metal cage surrounding you?
i have seen people get killed by a seat belt.

next question: why can motorcyclists ride without any protective equipment?
if i have to wear a seatbelt they have to wear a helmet, boots, leather pants, a leather jacket, chest protection, and gloves.

the above mentioned "trick " doesnt work on my 2005 zx4 2.0L cause those chimes are still ringing , always , every 5 minutes , for the full 45 minute commute
luckily that kool radio cranks loud to drown the chimey thangs out and get 34mpg
??? any special trick for the 2005 year ?????
yeah I wear the belt always , just the sensing item , or connection, or other dohickey isnt recognizing my seat belt secured so gotta listen to chemey chimes
the previous owner had spilled 5years worth of coffee and sodas into the seatbelt insertion so that might be the problem
did take the seats and carpets out and powerwash them with bleach to get them back to grey from dingy black and rinsed the belts clean but the seatbelt still isnt registering secured
any suggestions from the peanut gallery ?????

i have... a difficult issue. i just bought a 2003 SVT focus. someone who had the car 2 owners ago replaced the seats with nicer seats. i guess.. but. some how. the last 2 drivers drove and just turned up the music or something and didnt care. i for one. cant stand the chime going off every 30 seconds and flashing at me. the seats are not wired to the harness under the seat and have no way to do so. i wear my seat belt. but of course that wont help in my situation. and i cant disable it. because that requires a long process which involves buckling and unbuckling the seat belt. which... i cant do... so please. tell me, where is the chime? i'm just going to unplug the damn thing and cover the flashing red light with black tape under the panel.
