New and looking for some help in various areas

So a friend of mine pointed my here (VonKrause), and I was a bit concerned about where to post my first message since my issues cover a range and prefer my first posts not bring the angry mods down on me. First of all: Hi everyone.

Info: I have a 2002 Black Coup ZX3. Automatic. All stock parts except the radio which looks like it had been put in to replace the original which was likely stolen. I have never done any car modifications. I can change my own oil/tires and do other basic maintenance (if I have the ability to do so) but that's pretty much it. Car has 82000 miles on it IIRC.

Car Problems: Car runs well, gets good MPG still. I had some issues a couple months ago, and had to have a gasket and most of the cooling system replaced (pump, thermostat and hoses) since I was losing coolant at an alarming rate. Cost me a pretty penny. Currently though my AC doesn't seem to be working well and I notice that If I'm stopped and the AC is on, the car stutters a bit sometimes when I'm sitting still. Any advice on what this might be? Runs dandy otherwise, just a bit concerning for me.

Otherwise, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for modifications that would help me. My friend put in a new intake which seems to have some nice benefits, but I really don't like the idea of having to be even more worried about the high water here.

The outside of my car in general does look fairly poor. When I got it, someone had scratched it severely around most of the body (keying maybe), and one of the windows is very scuffed up, and while its hard to see there is the original owners name(s) in black tint on the back windshield which seems like it is stained in somehow, can't see it usually though. Fortunately the car is black so the body scratches are hard to notice usually.

Any ideas are appreciated, but I should note, I have no desire to dump the automatic transmission. I know this is a huge nono for car nerds, but I just prefer it.

First Off, Welcome to the Forum.

VonKrause is a good guy. Good to hear he pointed you this way. From what I gathered if you are one of his buddies, that you are one of 3-4 of you guys who picked up Focuses. Funny.

2nd, Us Mods are not angry ... well not always.

3rd, You have some good questions here. I would take each question and seperate them and ask around the forum.

- Like the question about your car issues can be asked again in the Technical Area -
Here - > http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/f...splay.php?f=47

- Question on other mods for your car: Check out the area that fits your engine and car model
Here - > http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/f...splay.php?f=37

To bad you didn't post earlier, like yesterday. We just had our month meeting in Houston for the Houston BBQ.

Well look forward to you joining our meets one of these months.

And enjoy the forum. Lots of great people and lots of good info from everyone.

Thanks. I doubt I could have made the BBQ anyways, I've been extremely busy with work.

I live in the Southwest side of Houston, somewhat around Sharpstown/Sugarland.

Really ... that's where a majority of us live by.

I actually live close to that area. 59S.

Right after Houston and right before Sugarland. Probably have seen each other around.

Yup. And if I can convince those guys who have the Euro STs to join the group ... we will. Because they live in Sugarland.
