Exclamation 2 Mods that are Easy on the eyes, & Easy on the $$$!

Hey everyone...

Here are a few ideas for making some modifications that are easy on the eyes, and very easy on the wallet.

#1. Tricking out the Digital Readout in the Instrument Cluster!!

When people are tricking out the interior of their car the little odometer panel is the last place they think of to trick out.. However, a $5-$7 part can put the ultimate custom finish on your interior. Believe me when I tell you, people can notice this!!!

All you have to do is go to the local Cell Phone shop and pickup one of those hologram screen protectors in a style that matches your personal taste.... The rest is easy, unscrew the cluster pop the clear cover off the front and just apply the Hologram to the little screen. If you have a nice set of gauges in your Foci, this may be just the thing to accent them.
The holograms are cheap, they are removable, and best of all the way they are designed you can still see the information... (not that it's earth shattering news)...

Interior Trim and Bezel Painting

There are a lot of products on the market for doing the interior of a car, but honestly they are expensive and have little to no color choice. So, I decided to try something and it worked rather well.. So, I am going to share the idea with all of you....

The Surround on the Cluster, The Radio Surround Bezel, the Trim panel around the doors, the speaker grills.. All these kinds of parts can be painted with a selection of almost 50+ color choices. Including a Clear Coat top if you wanted....

How

Plastic Model paint, available at any hobby store.. Testors, Model-Master, anything for plastic models is perfect for the trim panels. They have all sorts of base coating, chromes, metallics, flats, glosses.. I managed to do a whole car for a friend of mine with some white primer and a few cans of metallic red spray. The problem with Krylon and other sprays is that they won't stick to plastic. But the chemical makeup of the model paint allows it to stick to plastic..
It came out great!!

Figure most interior color kits are $50-$75 and some of them are a pain to do... Most model paint is $2-$3 a can and depending on how much you want to color you wouldn't need more then 4-5 cans. This includes primer color and top color!!!

So there you have it... Here are 2 simple cash saving mods that can make a door panel match a racing seat, or add the custom look to the gauge set you spent your hard earned $$$ on!!

Simple, but effective!! (Sort of like the Ford Focus!!)
