2008 Cruise Control

well, I finally got cruise installed in my 2009 S. Many thanks to Jungle Jim! Dealer had it done in less than an hour

Has anyone had any luck with getting the audio controls working?

I bought a black leather with cruise and audio control's from car-part.com and had it shipped to me for $65. I attempted to swap the wheel but it was obviously impossible unless you have the special ford 2 prong puller and i found nothing that would work. The dealership told me it would be $90 to swap the wheel and enable it in the PCM so that's what i think I'm gonna do. The wiring harness looks like it has everything for the audio controls but i believe it's a lack of sync issue that's keeping it from working.

Should have no problem as long as your model has drive by wire (No throttle cable) I'm not to sure if it wasn't a mid year change or not.

I bought a junkyard steering wheel made for a 2008 for use in my 2010 and it worked fine.

All Focus models were drive by wire starting with the 2008 model year.

Would you mind telling me the name of the dealer where you had your cruise done? I live in the Dallas area and I'm interested in doing the same on my 08. Also the name of the person you dealt with in the service department might help, too.

Well, I took the info from this thread and started calling dealers today..... sigh...

We have a 2010 S, the first dealer I called "can't find a kit to do that". I told him it has been done, but his response is that I will have to find a dealer who does it. Second dealer actually called me back, after checking the cost of parts, said that they would do it....for $636!!!! According to them, the steering wheel is over $500.... I told them to look on ebay, a ford dealer there is selling them for $179.

Another dealer I talked to says they send their customers to an aftermarket installer. He would be willing to reprogram the computer if I showed up with the parts installed. He also felt that "a servo" also had to be installed. I found the SSM number here and gave it to him to look up, he sounded interested in learning about it.

Anyone know of a dealer near Tampa that does this?

I'm starting the process to try and get this done in the Dallas area, so I feel your pain.

The dealer selling the steering wheels on eBay is Gary Yeoman's Ford in Daytona Beach, FL. I spoke to their service manager, Bill Posey, on the phone today and he said he would be glad to talk to a service manager in my area about how to enable the cruise in the ECM. I'm sure he would be glad to talk to the service manager at your local dealership in Tampa if you can get them to call him. Their number is 386-253-7031.
