I know the answer. The evo will take on the 05 Mustang Gt, I saw a magazine (Motor Trend) I think and the Mustang ran the 1/4 mile in 13.6 @ 99.9 mph. In the street I think the Evo and its AWD advantage will own the Mustang.

My opinion, I will take the Evo over any Mustang. Why? Turbo and AWD.

in a drag race, a solid rear is better than independent b/c the wheel hop will slow you down.

the 05 stangs will be BIG on the aftermarket, so i am sure a supercharger or twin turbo kit will be made for it. But the 05 GT's will have the most horsepower out of any stock GT mustang. It would be very deserving to have one. Yea yea, an EVO is fast, but mustang is an american icon. A 3 Valve motor puttin out 300 Hp is gonna be worth it. Mustang over EVO any day.
