fuel pump problem

alright, so last week i got in a fenderbender. i backed into a truck at a gas station after i noticed i parked on the wrong side, no one was hurt, except for the focus. i damaged the rear hatch and scratched up the bumper. well i got it too the shop and they replaced the hatch nd repainted everything. it all looked great.

well i drove the car home and to this local church to go see a drive thru nativity scene. well im in line with the car idleing and i went to scoot up and it stall. no big deal, thought i just screwed up not driving for a little bit. start it and got to inch forward again and when i gave it gas it would bog and die real quick. pull out the handy dandy predator and i got two codes, p1237(fuel pump secondary circut fault) and i dont recal the other.

i called the shop and they sent a tow truck out and they took it back to the shop to see whats wrong. any ideas?

^^^ I think you need to check your info there...... The focus DEFINATELY has a fuel pump. It's located in the tank......

Sounds like your wiring may have gotten damaged in the accident. Maybe it got pinched or something. Or it could have jarred something loose in the pump itself. Either way it sounds like the tank is going to have to be dropped. Sorry bout your luck man.

Ewwww Sentra = FAIL.

Yeah well some people just shouldn't comment on Tech questions

Like i said i assume something pinched or got jarred in the accident. More than likely a wire got pinched and burned through while you were driving it later thereby shorting causing your issue.

Whoever told you that the focus doesn't have a fuel pump was smoking crack.

I second that some wiring may have gotten effected during the accident.

yeah i call the shop and they were first trying to say that it sounded like the fuel pump was going out.... i told him the car ran great before the accident and it broke 5 minutes after leaving the shop. o and the trunk wont close every time i close it either so they gotta look at that too. the locking mechinism will not latch and the hatch bumps back occasionaly
