How To: Rear SVT Brake Swap (Rear Brakes Drum to Disc Conversion)

well i couldnt find one with pics so i figured while i was out today i would go ahead and make one.. here we go.. hope you llike it..

First turn on your music..


then take your car and pick it up..


this is what will be on it soon..

make sure you put it on jack stands..

then take off you wheels..


now take off the center cap

then the hub nut.

then slowly remove your drum

then the brake lines

then you have to take out the 4 bolts off the hub axle.. sorry i forgot to take pics off this..
then you have to drill out the rivets

now bend out the tab on this bracket..

then slide the cable out of the bracket

this is what you should have by now.. clean it up and make sure its smooth

then take your 4 bolts and put your new hub on..


while your working might as well paint the calipers..
first you have to clean them..

then some paint..



time for your new brake lines.

i had to modify mine due to my camber kit..

now install them.. sorry i forgot to take a pic of this one too.. but pretty straight forward

now remove your heat shield.. its time for your ebrake..

you have to bend the bracket out a bit so that the brake cable will slide through..

then remove your brakets

then you put your cables in and pinch your bracket back down..



then remount your ebrake cable bracket.

and the other bracket

now time to compress the brake caliper.. you do this with this tool and you twist..



then install your mounting bracket.


then put on your new rotors

then your brake pads.

then attach your brake line to your caliper.

then mount your caliper..


now reattach your ebrake cable..

now bleed your brakes..
now stand back and enjoy how beautiful they look..mmmmm

ok now wipe your chin cuz your not done yet..
now go inside your car and reattach your ebrake handle..

now bolt it back down..


now adjust your ebrake..

and place your lock spring on it..

now replace your center console..

now put on your temporary wheels cuz im getting an alignment tomorrow... not necessary..

lower your car back to the ground.. and stand back and enjoy...

yeah i realized i didnt take pics of some things.. like removing the old brakes and the ebrake handle. i guess i was too excited.. but i fiugred if people are doing this themselves they could figure out most of this stuff.. this was just to guide them into the right direction.. if your really wondering about the ebrake.. you can remove it anytime you want to before or after you do the swap.. sorry...

i cant remember off the top of my head but i believe they are 5000k hid h3s.. but ill check later i have too look anyways cuz i need a new wide band sensor and where i am gonna buy it from gives a free set of hid bulbs.. so ill try to remember to let you know..

gotcha. those are the ebay headlights right? if so, I bought them and there si a huge sticker that says no HID's. I was just wondering if you have seen any melting?

im not sure if they are ebays or not.. i bought them from a fellow member.. and i have hids and no.. no melting.. as a matter of fact though i think they have the conversion done to them though..
