Its not. I agree with kylesvt, and everyone else, that said its much more than that, its a collectors, enthusiast, rally-fan, and sporty-fords-fan kind of car, And it is a completely different car ( same as how an EVO is totally different car with a regular lancer, new FRS is totally different than regular MK2 Foci, etc.etc...)
I would DEFINATELY pay the 26 grand if the new RS wasn't on sale here (and I didn't have my ST hehe) but I really really hope to one day own one of these absolute beuties, and pieces of great engineering, I can't see me loving the new FRS without loving these Cossie..
Also, I think there was an Escort RS, without the cosworth package, also turbocharged, but not sure if it was AWD..

I only said its not an Escort in the sense that it wasn't an American Escort. The same way the U.S. Focus currently shares nothing with the European Focus. The American Focus was a Laser rebadged as an Escort, but was not the same car as the Escort in Europe...
