Hmmm, I may have to change my shopping strategy then, and include all the high mileage '03s I've been omitting.
What about this....suppose I have a low mile '03 2.3L engine and gearbox. What year cars with a 2.0L engine can I change it into?

2000-2003. You can't use a 2004-up body because it's illegal by federal emissions regulation standards

OK then, different tack.....
Can a 2.3L ST engine be put onto an auto box? And can new or rebuilt 2.3L ST engines be found in "crate" form? If it's illegal to put an '03 2.3L engine in a '04-'07 car, I assume the same does not hold true for the 2.3L engine from an '04?
