Yep, learned that lesson with pushrods on engines without adjustable rockers. I figured the buckets would be similar- you gotta mark them so you can put them back exactly where they came from if the valve lash is good before you remove.

It seems like the OP is getting good advice in here on what might be causing the problem. I might search for another mechanic, or ask this guy to use feeler gauges so he can tell you how much adjustment is needed. The right way to do it is to install the cams, and rotate each lobe to it's base lobe circle (backside) then measure the clearance between the bucket. To figure the actual bucket you need to make up the difference, use a C caliper to measure the thickness of the inside of the bucket and add what you need to bring it within specs.

The diffrence here is I actually know what im doing just dont have the buckets i need yet

Oh thanks. I dropped the cardboard I had mine punched through and mixed them up. It took a lot longer to check clearances after the head install. OHC non-interference engines are much easier if you mess up your valvetrain.
