How-To: Getrag Transmission Fluid Flush

Thanks for the how to. Used Poyal Purple and completed the tranny fill and oil change in less than an hour. Can't say I notice a difference, but the old fluid was black so new fluid has to be an improvement.

Just a couple of questions though,
1. Someone told me that using the high performance racing fluid requires a more frequent fluid change interval. How accurate is this?

2. And at how many miles are those of you with the RP Syncromax changing your fluid?

I actually filled my tranny while it was on ramps (which means the 'fill point' was not level, so have more fluid than necessary in the tranny). Been driving that way for around 4,000 miles now. Checked the level today (on level ground) and of course, it dumped out. Since I didn't have a drain pan handy, I quickly put the plug back in, so the tranny is still overfilled.

Just curious as to what potential damage could be done with an overfilled Getrag box? I know an overfilled auto tranny will foam the fluid and cause slippage, but didn't know if na overfilled manual tranny is detrimental??

My 03 supplement also makes no mention of ATF, and the Ford synth spec indicates 70w90 gear lube. I'd rather not smoke my trans, but want to minimize friction. Royal purp website says 10w40, this is very confusing, but the Ford spec of 70w90 synthetic is hard to ignore.

I changed mine to RP SynchroMax at 40,000 miles, not that it was needed entirely, but I put in the STS and just wanted a finishing touch

All 3 years take the same fluid.
I'd go with the latest SVT Supplement recommendation since it will be updated with any revised specs.
