great looking project. It's one i've been looking at doing for a while and am interested how another person would do it.

Dont worry about any naysayers. they dont understand the potential of those awesome LSx engines. heres something to shut up the haters and intrigue your followers even more

very compact for a V8
only 50lbs heaver than your stock 4 cylinder!!! (aluminum. the 5.3 iron is 100lbs heavier)

sounded like a good motor for the swap to me and dont get me wrong i love me the 4.6

well my welder broke so i decided to start on the engine management. megasquirt II V3.

here is a pick of what i started with.


this is on step 27 of assembly. after testing it works so far


i am on step 40 now. ready for the next test.

i also started on the intercooler install. cut a lot out of the bumper. need to brace it up to hold it... need my welder back in working order...

does any one on here know what guns will work on a chicago electric welder?

Man, I feel ignorant. I never knew MegaSquirt was a DIY ecu. The only times I've seen it referred to I never saw a picture of it, just that a car was running it. I looked it up and I agree it's a pretty sweet deal to get standalone capability for $250. So it looks like it takes a good few hours just to solder the thing together? Good luck installing it!

you can pay them and they will assemble it for you. it cost $200 for assembly. i chose to do it myself.

yeah i am using all harbor freight tools for this.... except for hand tools they are craftsman... im one broke biotch lol
