bad forum

so i was in the vw forum because i bought a golf project car and i posted a question that to me didnt seem dumb but i guess i was wrong. Because i was immediately insulted by not only other members but the moderators as well. After being on this forum i feel like no other forum can have such a great group of fellow owners that are as supportive and helpful. I think i am going to just get an svt focus and say ftw! thanks guys ff rocks

I have noticed this as well. You cant get this kind of help from anywhere else.
WAY too many performance mods to list. Check profile if you wanna know. And yes, I installed all my mods myself in my garage. No special tools.

yeah, it seems other forums have either:
a. nobody there to help...or
b. plenty of people, but they're douches and don't want to help

^ im on a motorsports site for my state and at first i got a shit ton of talk done to me for drivin a focus.. but it was all good after they saw pics and actually took time to get to know me... but i agree.. i know this will hurt some ppl but just from experience FJ is the same way.... i appreciate all they did for the NW G2G but you say something and get shot to crap...... especially on the ones where they ask.. "what do you guys htink?" and get shot to crap for your opinion... but oh well... live on FJ and FF both FTMFW!

Yup, the Focus is perfect for the emo in everyone ...
Don't "think outside the box".
There is no box.
Do it correct, or do it twice.

I'll say a lot of you guys are (ok some of you lol) are on either NECO or FF....... these two sites are about the ONLY worthwhile, friendly, HONEST (at least most of the time lol), and overall helpful car forums that I would ever go to FJ is ok I GUESS, but you do get a lot of discouraging crap in which you'd be supported by both these other two sites. (think of my D30 a lot of crap on that one lol)

This is the first forum that I ever joined. I expected other forums to be like this. Such a disippointment to find out that I was wrong, AND at the same time, such a delight to find out that I already was in a warm family of car guys/gals. Just for fun, I think I'll try to get banned from the Dodge Caliber forum. Rest at ease all! I do not own one. I was trying to help my son find a part.

Well, we have had times where people have thrashed other members. Like there was this one guy who thought that a spoiler would increase his whp. It's hard not to jump all over people like that. When we have had people who asked, although maybe rudimentary, honest questions that people jump on them about- the rest of the members jumped all over the jumper. As long as there's no insulting, mods don't generally get involved except as posters in a thread, but it's you regular members who maintain the moral policing and really keep this forum clean.

Just remember not to call anyone an idiot, moron, stupid, or whatever. As long as we practice other ways to explain ourselves to the less informed, then we'll stay the friendly, all cars have a home here forum that we are.

Hey, if you can sell the VW for more than you bought it for- go for it, but I wouldn't take a loss on anything just to swap an internet forum. We have members on here who are knowledgeable in VW. I'm no fan of VW's myself, but I've seen several on here who like those cars, and I don't think the reasons I don't like VW are still pertinent. BTW, my golden rule for selling cars is to take your time. Set the price at $500 more than you want to get for it- for example: bought for $4k, advertised for $5k, sold for $4500. That's enough to cover tows, tags, title fees, etc and put some change in your pocket. As long as you wait long enough, you will find some person who will pay what you want for the car. I sold a 79 Datsun pickup I bought for $700 for $1500 after driving it for a year, then letting it sit for a year before I repaired the head gasket and replaced the radiator (it hit a critter).
Be eclectic.
