The Focus does not have the ability to display the outside temperature. The reason you can see the segmented displays when the sun hits it at an angle is because the display panel which is installed in your Focus is the same display that is installed in other higher end models that may be equipped with the ability to display outside temperature, such as the Lincoln MKZ, or Taurus. Same parts may be installed across model lines.

No no no.. FORD told me this directly.. not the DEALERSHIP.. I called FORD company and their agent after putting me on hold for 5 mins told me this..

The dealership WILL install it for free, but if an electrical issue is raised from the modification it will void the warranty according to FORD.

I'm not sure if this is you or you are quoting the person, but either way, that person should go look at the current build of 09 Focus and he will surely see a working compass and exterior temperature display. At the very least any 09 should be able to do this, and I would think any 08 Focus should be able to as well.

Have you tried getting your dealership to install it?

Ok is there a way to get something in writing from Ford saying that the dealer CAN and WILL do it for free? Rather than just walking in there and demanding they do something that they don't even know about and have them go "What? Free? What are ya? crazy??"
and I could care less about a possible electrical short, I seriously doubt that would happen unless whoever did it f'd up

The compass and outside temp display was a Job #2 addition. I think they started running them sometime mid January.

The Job #1 '09's and '08's have the display with the temp and compass because it is used in other vehicles, but doesn't have anything else associated with it(sensors, wiring, etc).

It's probably possible to add them, but it is probably expensive as well. I wish it was cheap and easy. I have a Job #1 '09 I would like to add them to. I would have waited for a Job #2 '09 but I would have lost a conquest sales rebate, and that added with the price increase for the Job #2's would have been about $1800.

There was a price increase?
I didn't know the difference between not having the temp compass and trunk button when I got mine.. but besides can't pass up $12999 on a new car at that time..

Based on the brochure I still have, the remote trunk release was supposed to be available in winter of 2008,so depending on the production date or split, some 2009 Foci will have it and some won't.I'll have to go later and check the build date on my car later today.

The SES and SEL went up about $280 with Job #2 vehicles. Less than that for SE and S.
