08-09 Trunk Button

I have discovered the elusive trunk button!
I'm going to work on figuring out how it goes in and stuff then I'll update this as I go along.
The button here that comes stock looks to have an area molded into the plastic for it. I personally don't want to have to pay for the extra plastic piece there to replace mine so I'm going to just get the button from like the Fusion or something. I forget which but they had a rectangular button somewhere that did the same.

No, you don't have one
This is on a 09 that does have one

I'm trying to figure out how to mod a button in, the pictures supplied only show that there's hope for it.

I couldn't really care less about the trunk release button. I can just use the remote and if worst comes to worst there's a keyhole for the trunk.

What I want is to get the compass/temp display working!!
So do you have this working since you have the trunk button?

no no no maybe I should have posted after that I get it done

I don't have the button in my car yet, I just found that Focus with the button in it today while I was in at a dealer getting serviced.

The compass and stuff will be what I'll try to figure out next.

The trunk button is an issue because quite a few times I went inside the car without my key (key in house or something) then I need to open the trunk and realize dammit I have to go back into the house to get the key and push the button

Yeah, don't get me wrong it's a nice thing to have, but I'd really rather have the compass and temp display if I got to pick :) Us 08-09 owners know the display for it is there, but it's just not hooked up! Those bastards at Ford! lol

So yeah man, if you shed any light on the compass/temp display hook us up!

Phokus PM'd me because he knew I worked at a Ford dealership.
I will attempt to find one with this option and take pics behind the panel...stay tuned.

Yeah I don't have this stuff in my '09. The story goes that my car was received by the dealership in October, but it was not until December or January that Ford started putting the trunk button and temp/compass display in.
