HD Radio in my Focus--Experienced w/it?

Hi guys/girls. I am looking at adding HD radio to my new radio i have coming from a 2009 fusion. I have the PIE aux adapter too. I am now considering getting an HD radio tuner to go with it. I already have my mp3 player hooked up to it, so I would have to mess with trying to get the 2 rcas on the PIE to become 4 rcas. I think i can do that with splitters. I have looked around and there is one tuner made specifically for the Fords. There are others out there as well, that just connect via rca.

So, I am looking for anyone with experience in adding hd radio to their focus. I am wondering if you lose the steering wheel controls other than volume, and how it worked out in general...

Thanks.

I don't believe you will loose your steering wheel controls, is the harness the same for the 09 Fusion?

Most folks that want HD Radio upgrade to a better Headunit as a basic HU with HD Radio can start out about $129 and you get better sound, more features, and other items.

the harness is the same, so i am not worried about the steering wheel controls for just the HU. what i am wondering about is adding an HD receiver. like...can i just get a receiver, plug it inline with the antenna, and then the HU will tune from that? meaning find the hidden channels, etc? or do i have no choice but to use a separate tuner too?

Is the head unit you are getting HD compatible?

well, it can take hd receivers if that is what you mean...but cant just about every HU?

i am just thinking i will no option if i want the hd but to tune with a separate tuner. if that is the case, i will probably stay away from the HD radio idea. i love the steering wheel controls.

Make sure radio stations in your area broadcast in HD, otherwise it won't do you any good.
