I noticed that the new flywheel was much thicker then the orignal. I assume this is good foe launching in a drag race. But for us daily driver guys wouldn't a light one be best?

Edit: I think I was looking at the old one as the new. So is the new one lighter?

Yes the new one is much lighter.
The heavier flywheel is the better choice for a lot of stop-and-go traffic.
I didn't buy the Exedy kit because of the weight of the flywheel though.
I bought it because of the holding strength of the clutch.

The Phantom Grip is still holdup up well.
For those without traction control be forewarned about wet/icy roads and curves.
Since both wheels are always turning, if the wheels spin in the middle of a curve then the nose of the car will slide just like a RWD would with the rear.
So be don't go crazy in curves on wet/icy conditions!

My opinion of the phantom grim is it is a total waste of time , It is nothing more then a set of springs pushing apart against the spider gears and do little to aid in traction

It is not a limited slip , a posi unit or anything of the kind , everyone I have taken out in the MTX were changed because the factory diff broke , the diff is the weak point if your going to go through the trouble to add something add something that works and strainghtends the weak point

Oh and sporadic I dont sell any of these so it isnt like im saying this because I want you to buy something , just wanted to clear that up

Tom

I certainly won't argue that the PG puts undue stress on parts.
I knew that when I bought it, but I took that gamble and went with it anyway.
As for the traction part, I do disagree with you Tom.
Both tires now grip instead of one and the addition traction is very obvious.
The difference in traction is really night and day.
You're right in saying it's not a limited slip, and it's certainly not a torque-sensing LSD like a quaife.
It's actually closer to a locker with a 50/50 torque split except that it does allow for some slip in the corners so a tire isn't getting drug around.

The concept is nothing new though.
It's pretty much the same idea Ford had with the "S" spring in the 8.8.

That being said, I'm not out to defend the quality of the PG or the longevity of the MTX-75.
I will keep this thread up to date and report anything that happens, good or bad.
