I did a bunch of cheap mods this summer......this picture shows three. A seat cover from Advanced Auto $19. A floor mat from Home depot $2 ea. And a custom sill plate from Home Depot made out of a rubber stair tread $2 per door.

I love the door sill cover. I to will be doing this mod this weekend. I think I will be going to the junkyard on my luchbreak today to salvage some parts off some wrecked focus as well. Also I love the painted shift mod. I just hate the fact that mine is a cheapo plastic one. Maybe I can find one like your guys.

For the price of a couple rolls of weatherstrip, you can quiet down wind and traffic noise. I suspect the effect would be less on a three-door, but on my ZX5 this was an effective cheap mod.

texas won't let you? why do you say that? and i'm surprised that i read through this entire thread and didn't see a balance shaft delete kit. $20 bucks from F2..or $33 from FS. My personal ones are a debadging-free, invisible exhaust tip-free when you borrow your neighbors grinder, foglight mod-pocket change, parking light mod-free, more to come i'm sure.

^^^In the 2.3 Duratec, there is an eccentric weighted shaft which offsets vibrations in engine. This is a comon practice in V6 and long stroked I4 engines.

I believe the shaft weighs about 20 pounds, and steals about 15 hp from the engine.

Some people want the extra hp, so there are companies that make a kit to delete the balance shaft.
