HOW TO: Find Your Duratec ECU/PCM Code

Hello-


I recently helped another member find his PCM/ECU code for his duratec motor... this is needed when ordering a tuner and sometimes people cannot find it easily...


so i wanted to creat a thread to help that!

First is my car... which is pretty much 75% of the duratec members now... its the "2nd generation" bodystyle, otherwise known as the 05-07 bodystyle:

The easiest place is in the passenger side door jam:



its the small white dot at the front of the door jam(dont mind my beautiful wife's feet, lol)

And now, that Ford has put the PCM under the hood... heres a quick shot, courtesy of BradWhite's 08 focus:

A alittle help with confusion.... ECU and PCM are the same thing... its the engines computer...

ECU = Electronic Control Unit
PCM = Powertrain Control Module

PCM is what ford calls it, but by nature everyone calls it the ECU, i call it PCM because my wiring diagram book for my car calls it the PCM, and ive read through it enough where its stuck.

If you have another trick and/or can get another picture of a different location...or of like the 03-04 duratecs... like behind the glove box or what not, shoot me a PM, ill load the picture to my photobucket and post it in this post.
