Does the mustang kit listed in FRPP 2008 catalog work with Focus? It comes with a harness of some sort.

Just curious, is a relay needed for the push button starter? Or can I use any monentary switch rated above 15A?

But also, lets not do anything to make it easier for them. I would say if you're serious about this, but want to maintain PATS, is to relocate the receiver somewhere that you could get the key close to ... the cup holder idea seems to be one of the better ones. My question is tho ... does the key have to be close to the receiver for the whole time? Or just when you're starting the car? I've never really dug too deeply into the system concept to know.

So, I was sitting here thinking ... if we design a good system to take the key out of the steering column ... how do we turn off the car? I've never really paid attention to how it works on other push to starts. My ex's Nissan had one, but I never paid attention.

You could use a jet ski start/stop button...maybe.

Okay, here is a basic idea. why not just do a remote start system on the car? Most have a option that will allow you to do a soingle button to start the car. then you can wire another button that would shut the car off with the break shut down wire or the hood shut down wire. the biggest issue would be getting by the steering wheel lock. Peripheral makes several bypas modules for our cars. FOr the 00-05 they list 3 - PKF2, PPKUF1, XK04 and for the 06 they list the PPKF3, PPKUF2, XK04.

They bypass mdules retail from $40-$100. Most can be made to work with or with out an alarm. To use with out an alarm simply install a hidden or ghost switch that has to be hit prior to hitting the start button. This would allow you to NOT leave the car in a vulnerable position to a thief. If powe is cut to the bypass module it will no longer allow the car to be started.
