I had the same thing happen to me the other day but, my key would only go half way into the ignition. I had to leave my car at work. The next morning I beat the key in with a hammer. Works fine now.

I said nothing major, all of my stuff was covered by the warranty, but some of it i did by myself because it was cheaper than payign the $100 deductable (i.e. sway bar links)...
the main components (engine, trans & clutch, brake system etc.) are holding up extremely well... it's just all the little crap.... ignition cylander, heated seat element, steering wheel audio controls, wiper relay, wiper motor, wiper transmission, heat shield rattle, 02 sensors (which actually are quite expensive for an SVT), bearings in pulleys etc etc; i can give you a full list of all the crap ive had replaced under warranty if you want - the only original pullies i have under my hood as of 98k miles are crank & alternator - that said, they did give me a new serpentine belt, idler pulley, and tensioner at 98k miles for free, and the serpentine belt is a wear item, not sure about the other two...

Oh btw I will probably end up buying a toyota for my next car; everyone I know that owns one has been very happy with them & thier durability; my girlfriends Yaris gets nearly 39mpg (38.8) with like 90% city driving, and I love the electric power steering in it, so I may just get a yaris hb and enjoy the fuel savings...

Less than 1000 miles so can't complain yet. The 1995 Escort I used to have had only two major repairs. A radiator leak at less than 36K that was fixed under warranty. The timing belt broke around 70k that i fixed myself. Thank God for non-interfering engines.
And those aren't really major. No engine or transmission problems whatsoever, and was running fine the day I got rid of it at 123k. I'm not sure what these other people are doing to their vehicles. I'll admit that the foreign models may be a little more forgiving on neglect, but Ford still puts out a decent product IMO. Follow the friggin' maintenance schedule for pete's sake. That's all I've ever done, and I drove the hell outta that Escort.
