Clutch in, rpm to whatever you want, hand brake up.
*1st amber start to slip clutch
*2nd amber slip more, you should feel "tension" at this point.
*Third amber lights up, drop clutch, dump gas, drop e brake.
The half a second it takes you to fully release the E brake should help transfer some of the weight TO your torque converter and splines rather than your front tires and the pavment.

If you get your tires hot enough during the burn out then you should launch. Do you skip the burn out? Use the water?

Give me a run down of what you do.

For the record I was saying my 60ft in a MTX would be just as good if not better than in my ATX now. I think the MTX's are more much more capable of launching at a higher RPM. Your never gonna get a perfect launch = no wheel spin or hop because you aren't running drag radials IMO.

Racelegal's track sucks balls. I ran the mid 9's at Barona.

My rundown at racelegal.

Generally, I avoid the water but still spin the tires to clean them off, dry em, etc.
I then pull up the tree, line up, hold at whatever RPM's are getting me the best launch I can get and go, my shifting, I must say is pretty darn good and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to push the accelerator pedal to the floor.

Your only running the eighth.
Put a .005 R/T 10 sec. flat car against a .505 R/T 10 sec. flat car and see who lights em' up first. The momentum you carry across the beams is crucial as the track gets smaller.

He also never said he wasn't bracket racing which a lot of smaller tracks due to stretch out the events.

Regardless, from the first beam to the last in ANY race at the track your reaction to the light whaether in heads up racing or bracket racing is huge.

In heads up racing it can be a slower car beating a faster car, which I have posted slips of.

Tell me again how it doesn't matter?!

A perfect reaction at this track is .500 and my first time EVER racing was a .502... LOL I'm pretty decent at R/T's

Then in a heads up race you will do fine. Try the burn out using the e brake and really light em up, get smoke on both tires, and count to 4-5 while spinning the needle at around 50 MPH then let the brake out and keep spinning towards the line.

Dude don't worry about trying to get the best reaction time. Launch the car only when you are ready to go. Your shooting for the best 1/8 mile time you can get so who cares if the car next to you wins or loses.

People keep saying that reaction times don't matter, well keep saying that, I hope to see ALL of you lined up against me at FocusFest. In either the "heads up" grudge lanes or during the afternoon bracket racing, I'd be happy to hole shot you all and prove my point.

"Hole Shot"- in a drag racing event between two cars, often a slightly slower car (10.5) can over come a slightly faster car (10.0) when a faster reaction time to the starting "tree" can be achieved. If the slower car can can "launch" through the first beam .501 seconds before the vehicle that is .500 seconds faster in actual time; the slower car will "win" the race by .001. Thus the win is decided at the starting line before the cars tires every cross the "starting beam".
This is where the term "hole shot" was devoloped by racers. In professional drag racing there is often a seperate award for "The Hole shot".

Fast Fords & Mustangs 2004

But don't sweat it, R/T isn't important.

Yes reaction time is important but the most important is to have fun
