Yeah, I already knew what it was too. It's been talked about plenty before.
But yeah, it's going to be rad, I can't wait to see it. Those speakers look hella nice. |

You guys just need to convince him to buy the other pair currently located in my Q Logic kick panels. Then he could wrap himself in the sweet sweet meoldic tones of ProComp style sound. The imaging in these is tremendous and large. You could easily use one pair to stage an Excursion let alone a focus. With two pair...ppphhheeewww
I ran two pair of these (obviously) in my fofo and won many a show. My car was a dB drag car, then I got these and started competeing in SQ Pro Comp. division tournaments, winning most or at least placing and then I would roll the car to the lanes and turn the subs back on and dump 157 dB's on em'. These speakers could not only be heard over all that but they could be heard clearly, very clearly. Here's the bass, about 150 dB's, I'm yelling the words "here comes subsonic" but I'm barely audible... ![]() ![]() I had to show people that in order to just record standing around the car because everything was so loud you had to de-tune everything, bass in the neg's and subs at 0 watch for it at the end^^ So we know they are loud now, but what about clear?? ![]() ![]() ![]() get to close and as you can hear for yourself the mids and hi's from these speaks will distort the recorder as well as the bass. Sorry I couldn't record inside the car for you. I'm sure he'll be playing them pretty loud at FocusFest

Let's get back to the build shall we?
First you get some wood, I prefer 3/4 HDF no medium thanks or at least not for the rings. Medium density fiber wood can be used if high density is not available. Here we have a piece of scrap that we will be using for the job of making the rings. This means the wood rings that the mid driver and tweeter will eventually mount in to. Two seperate rings will be needed of each size. ![]() Some people use templates, I use the speaker itself. Trace the outline and with your jigsaw or what have you (DIY guys) cut out the rough shape. ![]() Next drill some pilot holes large enough to accomidate the blade on your saw. Then start cutting from one spot to another in thirds. Soon you will have something like this. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

The main focus in these rings is leaving just a little around the outer shape of the ring and making sure that the driver fits pretty snug in the hole. Not all cuts are perfect. Sometimes using a router is your best weapon against this. However not alot of regular guys have router tables. So make a trip to your local hardware store and buy one of these, its a grind wheel for wood surfaces. Get the biggest one you can for this job, or at least a 1" diameter will work.
![]() ![]() As you can see my ring is just a hair off after the rough cut, sooooo... ![]() ![]()

Once both rings are cut out and the proper changes for fit using the grinder have been made, remark the trace line for accuracy later. I usuually do it on the other side of the wood so you don't get double lines anywhere.
