The Z1s are on closeout now at the TR; a new evolution of the tire is due in a few weeks. 215/40-17 for $84.

From TR: Dunlop has just announced there will be an enhanced version of the original Direzza Sport Z1, called Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec.

The primary enhancement in the Star Spec version is the tread compound, which comes up to operating temperature faster than the original while retaining the same ultimate performance levels. The current information is only available in Japanese, but we'll share more details as they become available.

Mixing compatibility is unconfirmed at this time.

Tires (Z1) and wheels (Kosei K1) arrived today. I don't have a camera here at work, nor do I have a tape measure. But...I do have a ruler and dental floss. I took the dental floss and measured across the tire from shoulder to shoulder using the apexes of the little triangles that are molded in around the shoulder as the reference points...trying to stay as perpendicular to the shoulder as posible, here is what I measured:

215/40-17 on 7.5 wheel: 8 1/8"

195/55-15 on 7" wheel: 7 7/16"

Tires are shaved to 4/32.
