The focus might not be the fastest or the quickest car at the track, but at every event I have ever taken it to everyone comes over to check it out and are amazed that it keeps up to or passes there cars. That is the best part about racing an econobox nobody can believe that they perform as well as they do. I have had Evo's, Suby's, SRT4's and Mustangs all congratulate me on beating them in the 1/4 mile, I've had Miata guys pic my car apart at the autoX to figure out how I got the same time they did and I have had BMW, Corvette and Porsche guys come over to see what I have done to it to pass them on the track. Every time I get a big chuckle out of it. And the all say "damn I didn't know a Focus could go that fast".
Check out this video, this is the very 1st autoX I ever did.

Hear Hear!!

I've never been on a drag strip with this car. It's not what it was built for.

Not saying that it wouldn't be fun, but just ill suited.

Todd,
Wasn't trying to be salty, just confussed. When Booshay was quoted he was talking about you running low 13's and taking the same car with no adjustments to an auto-x and kicking it with the Mazda's. I have never auto-x, only drags so I was worried for a sec. I was like "damn, how did he get a stock svt into the low 14's let alone a 13???

Made my N2O times look even worse on paper So sorry if I came off the wrong way guys, but trust me, I'm REALLY glad I was confussed.

And TParker knows better than anyone I drove my car pretty close to stock to pretty much the last round of every bracket race I could find here locally. I'm the king of, "That damn guy in the focus is running 17.2 exactly all day, I gotta wait like a full tree and a half before I can even launch!?!" Now that I run nitrous they are a little happier about running a focus, until Todd stages next to them. Then they don't know what to think anymore

I have nothing but much love for all racers (except st.) because our sport/art takes loads of humility and self ridicule. We get picked on for being stock, then when we build them people are to us trying to figure out what we did to walk them in the 1/4 or in everyone elses case that was Nominated, stroke their ego around a huge road course only to smoke them in the tightest of tights.

Either way I admire of all you, thats why I said I could have taken myself out of the running because I really have only had this car for a year and a half, and to me an Auto-X is way more "racer" than the quarter. I love what I do, and I'm damn good at it, but the road course I saw up close 1 time lit a fire that is begging for some one to spray Nitrous at it. I have a lot of work to do before I can run road in a sedan, but ...........................someday.

I gotta comment on that...
Everyone has to start somewhere, and what's wrong with what you already have?
Taking an all stock or mostly stock car out on the track for the first time is a perfect way to start.
It teaches you how to preserve momentum, be smooth, and get the most out of what you already have.
That experience will translate into a reduced learning curve and much faster times in the long run.
When starting out with a highly modded car, a lot of those items (sticky tires for example)
will mask mistakes that you don't even realize you're making.
Using the sticky tires as an example:
If you start out on a street tire you'll learn the benefits of how to keep traction (be smooth),
you'll get an acute feel for when they're getting ready to break loose,
and even more importantly, how to reel the vehicle back in to prevent that.

I say, go for it with what you got Billy.

Wow! Those comments are much appreciated.
Thanks to both of you.

ZX3_2NV...
NICE pic!
I can't match that at all.
You do look rather satisfied! LOL!

By the way, I know it's been a year or more, but I did promise this pic for everyone...

Wow.
What a joke. WD is going to win because he's a nice guy?
(If that's what it takes to win ROTM around here, you guys should all be ashamed!) :(
I'm sure you're a real stand up fella WD but ZX3 has your car hands down.

Members vote by how they want to vote. Some may just go by the car. Some may go by the person. Some may go by both. Some may be friends with that person and vote to support them. You can't put others down cause of how they voted for someone.

Please don't start any 'drama' in this thread. It's pretty ridiculous to argue over something this small. Let's just have fun with it and not take it so seriously
