This has nothing to do with the show. Show some compassion for his family.
i showed compassion. and im not sure about you, but to me, the way you present yourself everyday of your life has everything to do with the way people will think of you and the way your legacy will be portrayed after your gone. my heart goes out to his family.

This is not the time or place to demean a person for how he was portrayed on TV. It is a shame, not only did he create some awesome cars and build a huge business, but no one should die that early. I don't think anyone on here truly has the right to critique his treatment of his employees. You can take a piece of footage and creatively edit it to spin it any way you want.....enough said.

Anyway, is there any word on what happened? How did he die? It's hard to believe that he died.

Here's a pretty good write up from Autoweek. I met him numerous times at SEMA and he is quite shy but always available for a comment and sure did truly love the hotrod world. He he did have a sincere love for cars. He was a better man at forming teams do run projects than he was at business. He was good at getting things done and quite an innovator. He launched some big careers: Foose, Jesse James etc. read on. It will be interesting to see if his widow Jo can keep the biz going. Foose should buy it and launch the next phase of his empire!! RIP Boyd.

i was not only talking about the way he is showed on tv. he has a TERRIBLE reputation among real hot rodders. he is pretty much hated. he treats everyone like he is better than them. takes credit for work that isn't his, and never thanks his crew.

if you think i was harsh check out some other forums, i pail in comparison to them. i cant even repeat some of it.

also how is this not the time? his family isnt on here going "i wonder what everyone is saying about him" no, there is plenty of the omg what a tragedy going around. i have the right to say how i feel about it. it isnt like he was killed or murdered, he died, it happens it isnt like i said im happy he died, i merely said the guy was an ass, and thats how he will be remembered by those who worked for or knew him.

I was completely stunned when I saw this. I've been out of town at some training this whole week and came back to see that Boyd died. He did have a great eye for beauty in cars. If we can for one minute forget about his personality and just remember what he did, anyone would be truly amazed. His cars stood out for sure. I loved anything that he touched. R.I.P. Boyd.

He will be missed. I love all the people judging him from a T.V. show shot in his later years of life. Boyd did not get where he was by not ever turning a wrench. He was an innovator in the hot rod industry no matter what you think of his personality. His influences on the industry will be around forever.

When i first saw this post a few days ago I was like, I have no idea who this guy is. But then something clicked today and I actually do. I didnt watch his show much but caught it once in a while. I do remeber him acting kinda like a dick on the show though lol, but of course its a show and if the producers wanted to portray him like that, thats how he would be. I'm sure he wasnt like that all the time, but at the same time when running a succesful buisness like that, you can't be a pushover. Sad that he died, I know he did a lot of work for the hot rod industry and other great hot rodders.

Off topic, but this makes me think about Carrol Shelby, who is pretty old and running to the end of his years. It'll be unfortunate to see the news of his death in the thread list.
