Ford Focus reliability

The last survey responses before the November update have been rolling in, and so far it's not looking like the 2005 Focus will be among them. Might have to be the next set, in February.

Closer to getting started with other years, but not there yet.

The 2005 might make it into the November results after all, though with an asterisk for insufficient sample size. Need just one or two more responses.

So far I'm only collecting data on the 2005, but nearly every other model year is within five to eight cars of the minimum. (2004 is the exception, I suspect because it was a short model year.)

In general, the research is developing very well. Next month's results will even include on 2008 model, the Buick Enclave. No one else will have reliability information on the Enclave until next summer.

I've had my 2000 Ford Focus ZTS for just under 2 years. It had 60k when I bought it, and now 12k. I've only had it in the shop for a broken wheel bearing and a broken front spring. In both cases, these failures were a result of my driving in hazardous conditions.

In response to requests, I've added a Common Auto Repairs Database (CARDb) to the site.

Currently it's just possible to add common repairs to the database. When the database has been populated, owners will be asked to report whether or not their car has actually had these problems. So we can find out how common "common repairs" actually are.

My suspicion: usually less common than people think.

The form includes a field for a forum thread URL, so people can be directed here for thorough discussions if there is a thread discussing the repair.

Nearly every model year is either just above or just below the minimum. So every additional participant will really help.

i have an 07 focus, i got it in march. although i believe the production date was october 2006 when i dug a little deeper. anyway, its got about 25,000KM's on it and its only really been into the dealer once, that was due to the sunroof not going back. the track got jammed or something, it would go up/down but it'd get stuck going back. but thats all fixed now =) otherwise no problems at all.

the focus should be compared to civics, mazda 3s and such which they cant compare to cause ford hates the USA

Cause the focus zetech will always be btr than civic and the SVT will always be btr than the lude, bseries, or kseries

My focus is crap... POS... would never buy another, and the dealer network does not make it up for it. I call ford and I was told "good luck" when mentioned all my issues. F U FORD!
