I wonder how the gauge would look and the effect it would have on the inside of the car if you use the blacklight LED's.....I think I might order both the blue and blacklight and try them both.

*EDIT* I don't see the option to buy the blue LEDs on the website........???

My idea was since the light behind the gauges is a regular bulb and not a monochromatic LED, transparent tape or paper will produce the color you want.

For instance, the bulb they have emits light across the spectrum, so if you put blue transparent paper in front of it, blue light comes through. If you put a red monochromatic LED in, it only has light in the red wavelengths of the spectrum, so if you put blue paper in front of a red LED, you really won't see much of anything.

Instead of replacing the bulbs with LEDs, wet sand off the green transparent film off of the gauge (you can leave the red film by the km/h part for a cool look), and put on a similar kind of blue film where the green film was for the MPH. This way, it should still be bright because basically your doing the same thing that ford did just using blue instead of green.

I'm not talking about electrical tape, I'm talking about transparency film or sticky transparancy film would be easiest. c.ohamara found some on ebay and there is a link to it a page or two back in this thread check it out and tell me if it works. Its extremely cheap and sounds pretty easy.

Wet sanding wont work, the film is too hard. use an xacto knife to scrape it away.

imo, changing the bulbs is both cheaper and easier.

u wet sand the backing with 420 or 600 grit sand paper. but whatever gets the job done

and the transparent paper CAN work eliteAviator, but no one hasnt tried it yet. so no one has witnessed the difference between the two.

oh geez, sorry wrong mod I was referring to the speedometer, cuz Aviator mentioned the red film on the km/h part.

and btw, my blue LED's do show red through the km/h, just not very brightly.

Yes they will a little, but it really shouldn't be that distinct. A regular bulb should work best, but if you've already got the LED's installed already I wouldn't reverse it.

yea I know no one tried it yet, but I would assume that it would work better. They showed pictures of what it looked like (whether or not it actually looks like that, I have no clue).
