I do not have one curently installed, but I did get an estimate for a custom cage.
In Manassas, VA Piper Motorsports does A LOT of the cage work for local racers and even pro teams. My estimate, out the door painted with cage padding was $1800. That's for a FULL cage that extends through the dash with door bars and a 2 diagonal cross bars in the hoop behind the rear seats. I would recommend AGAINST a bolt in cage for safety reasons. Below is an example of his work. ![]() ![]() ![]() Mitch is one of the best in the business. Their website is under construction, but you can get contact info here: http://www.pipermotorsports.com

I am not sure, but I think Mitch did the cage work for Gary K on his focus.

I want one... but I dont need a full race cage... besides I also dont want to have to climb over "the monkey bars" to get my big ass in and out either.
I'm going to do one, I just dont know which one yet.

If you want a bolt in for a ZX3 you can have one made by autopower. I have one in my car. I think with shipping it was less than 1000.00. It can be installed with or without an interior.

All of Mitch's cages are custom.
The "monkey bars" can be fixed or removeable. No additional modifications are required for the door panels. He can also do partial cages without door bars or stop at the hoop behind the seats. So, he can pretty much gin up whatever you need. I posted the pics to show fit and finish of his work. It is a BMW 330ci Grand Am Cup car with a NASCAR approved cage. Don't need to go that radical, but he's the guy to do it.

autopower has both bolt in and weld in kits, with removable or door opening type nasa/nascar door bars. I had a 4point bolt in, in my focus it was great quality and teched in for time trials, autox and track days. The only down side was climbing into the back one day with a chick and I almost knocked her out by conking her head on the main hoop.
I am planning to get a 6 point cage with nascar door bars, weld in kit from autopower. I've got a good mig and can attach it my self. |
