My First Autocross

Sunday I had my first autocross, I ran in the STS class, and I took 2nd in the class (out of 3) and 1st in the novice class (out of 8) woot!! There was one other Focus there, he was running in the FPS class, and he was good. I have some videos of my runs and his. One of my runs says I got a 41, that's incorrect, because the fastest time of the day was a 49. I don't have the official results yet, so I don't know what that run actually was, but it was my fastest, I think a 55. Anyone with some critiques on my driving skills, lemme have 'em. I won, but I didn't win with much style I think, and since I won't be novice anymore, I need to work on it.

My 4th Run
My 5th Run
2 Runs From The Other Focus

Great vids. Thanx. Like the guy said, "He take his turns so smooth..." and smooth turning = less wasted momentum.

For your first AX I don't have any critiques at all ! Great job!!!

You are smooth, consistent and looked like your seating position was good. You didn't over drive the car, and most importantly, you found the course. A lot of novices (and veterans) have difficulty with that aspect.

Course looked shorter that a 45 second FTD. For your first effort and to only be off the big dogs by 4 seconds is pretty remarkable.

You should be very proud.

Congrats!

You'll find the SVT is *alot* of fun to autocross.

If you're at all serious, get to an Evolution School if one is offered in your area.

Good Luck!

I think what I'm most proud of is 5 runs, not 1 cone hit!! I'm hooked for life!

And I realized today that I had my traction control on the whole time...
