reconnected battery now the car chimes and i cant remove the key

so i had to remove the center console to replace it, and i disconnected the battery. when i reconnected it the car made the long chime that didn't stop until i put the key in the ignition, upon doing that the car start w/o any problems, but now i can't remove the key from the ignition cylinder w/o disconnecting the battery... any ideas? PLZ help!

So apparently the canadians don't appreciate burnouts at the border crossing... I didn't mean to do it... i swear
