Either my lights are on at all times, or they are not on at all. The parking light switch is useless to me. Daytime Running Lights are completely different from Parking Lights though. My daily commute puts me through a tunnel that passes underneith LAX. Sometimes I will flip my lights on at that point (I probably should ever time but don't) and they stay on until I get to work. I have seen cars with their lights on in the middle of a bright sunny day as on coming traffic, yes you can see that the lights are on. Every little bit can help for saftey, but it is illegal in most states to drive with just the parking lights on.
