Mustang cobra PBR calipers on a focus??

ok- I also have several mustangs, and came across this thread on corner-carvers.com-

http://www.corner-carvers.com/forums...ad.php?t=27277

in short, it states that the brembo caliper upgrade kit, for the RS brake upgrade that ford offers, will bolt onto an SN95 mustang spindle for the 13 inch mustang brakes (sn95 mustangs are the '94-'04).

so- this means that the stock 2-piston PBR cobra calipers will also bolt onto the RS focus brake setup with the 12.75 rotors.

now for the million dollar question- what would need to happen for the mustang cobra 2-piston PBR (that works on the RS kit) to bolt onto a non-RS spindle? (svt spindle, whatever)what rotor would be needed for this? anyone have cobra mustang brakes sitting around they could verify next time the wheels are off?

the ford catalog mentions "the RS hubs, front knuckles and rear spindles have increased stifness and bearing sizer over production", but it doesn't mention if the caliper mounts are different. I might be able to check this weekend (if I can find time), but don't know...

thanks FF!

-Phil

eye heart my svtf.

Check out the Baer kit for the focus - it uses the same PBR cailper, with brackets to mount them out on 13" rotors. If you're real slick, maybe you can get the kit, minus the cailpers, and then buy whatever cobra set you want. That's my plan anyway. Try the website www.spmotorsports.com.

The mounts are different - the svtf has 3.5" mounts, while the PBR's mount to a 5.25" (I believe). If you get this done, keep me posted.

aaah poop. so it sounds like the RS spindles have the wider mounting then.

poop poop poop.

I was hoping to keep the upgrade as cheap as possible without buying anything- I have a *LARGE* assortment of cobra/GT/PBR calipers sitting in the garage from various brake upgrade stages on the SVOs...

If you were going to get the RS spindles with Cobra calipers, you'd be better off getting the Brembo 4-piston calipers that come on the RS.
