Hey all,
Yesterday was the last day of the Maine Forest Rally 2006! If you don't know where it was held at...it was up in the Newry, Maine area (and part of New Hampshire). I only caught the last day, last stage of the rally...nothing too exciting but here are the pics: http://gallery.white-box.us/main.php?g2_itemId=375 If you look at the main page of the gallery there also, you will find the 2005 rally as well...better pics in that one. Enjoy |

Haha awwww....it's so sad that people in the world can't experience rally up close :(
But I go out of my way for the little guy...and I have a dream....a dream where everyone, every person, will experience rally up close.

Right in my back yard. So to speak, at least, I think technically it was like 90 minutes to my north. I was hella busy tho, maybe next year.

We have a fair amount of SCCA Rallycross here in the midwest. Not exactly stage rally, but 1 old car + $25 and you get to race on the dirt!
I really would like to go to a stage rally as well, but I have precious little time off as it is...

If you all are intersted in seeing a stage rally live there are some websites I can direct you too. The first is, Rally-America.com. This is a sanctioning body that puts on many rallys including the Maine Forest Rally and the Maine Winter Rally. They also have events in NV, MO, MI, CO, and several other states. You might also want to go to nasarallysport.com, which puts on several of its own events, you might check specialstage.com. From here you will be able to find several rallies all over the states.
I have found from several years of being involved in rally that the best way to see a stage rally is to volunteer. Often times, especially with the new restrictions they put on spectators, you will get the best view. If I get a chance I will post some pics that I took when I was volunteering that no other spectator would have been able to take because their view was not as good. You might also try running a local TSD rally. These are Time Speed Distance. They are not all out go as fast as you can rallies but they are great fun and a great way to get into the sport for cheap. In Michigan there is a group called the Furringroup. They put several of these rallies on a year. Entrance fee is about $25, I think. |

Cool stuff! I'm a rally regular up here in the PNW - Block & Pastrana were at Oregon Trail back in April - I think Pastrana was 2nd overall, but apparently he was under orders from Subaru to make finishing a priority over winning.
