Static shock from my Focus' door
Am I the only one that's experiencing this weird phenomenon? I bought a new Focus ZX5 PZEV back in August of last year and for as long as I've had it, I get a NASTY little static shock every time I exit the vehicle and touch the door to close it! At first I thought it might have something to do with the air being hot and dry. (It's like that here in San Diego in August-September.) But the weather has no effect on it... it will happen on a cold damp morning as reliably as any other time.
This is the only car I've ever had this problem with. Anyone else notice it? Is it caused by the uppolstery? A short somewhere? |

i get it alot too especially on a nice warm day it pisses me off!

I haven't experienced it with the Focus but I have sure experienced it with other cars. What kind of shoes are you wearing? I have a certain pair of shoes that seems to be a frequent cause of static shocks. I've heard that the tires on the car may be the cause too, certain kinds of tires apparently can cause this.

ive never had a prob. with my car shockin me. if uve got cloth seats, it might be u slidin out and cause static. then when u touch ur car, it shocks u.

i think it has to do with your laundry dryer. try getting static remover. the reason i think its this is because my friend ALWAYS gets shocked when leaving my focus but i never do. but the one time that i wore his clothes it shocked the crap outa me.

huh,,,yah I never get it either. I only get it at the auto show when I'm walking on a foot of carpet and the cars look like their sitting in a jungle somewhere being eaten by carpet! then I get the shit shocked outta me...literally! oh I think I said too much ;) thats an interesting perspective with the dryer!

I used to get shocked a lot in the winter. Try grabbing the metal part of the door while you're still in the seat, and then get up. This generally prevents a zap unless there's just an ungodly charge.
