Well,
After realizing there was no way I'd get a camera mount shipped in time for yesterday's race, I scrounged around my shop and came up with this: (Click on thumbnails for full-size pics) And, without further ado.... Here's yours truly on track! ^^^That's FF Member focusedaddiction in the red ZX3 that took off just ahead of me. No offense intended to you drag racers, but... Doesn't that look like a lot more fun than just going in a straight line? So, I'm happy with the stability of the mount, but I'm going to have to get a wide angle lens. Lemme know if the vids work. I think I sent out too many emails with the video links in them today. It appears the site only allows a certain number of downloads at any given time. You might try "right clicking" and "save target as" if it doesn't come up. Any comments related to video hosting/composition/accesories, feel free to fire away. I'm kinda new at this. Thanks!

I know you have a helmet on, but I'd still be a little freaked about having a "spiky" thing pointing in the general direction of my neck.
The videos played fine; and they were pretty stable considering the subject! Looks like you had fun, and the car sounds great. |

I know it doesn't show in the pics, but that mount is about 6" behind the back of my seat. My driver's seat is quite a bit forward from it, and I always move the passenger seat back all the way when I'm on track. But...I think I will find a different "plug" to put in the ends of the tube. I might have to look through some old bike parts, and maybe fit a plastic bar-end plug in there. Glad you could see the videos! I hope I don't get a nasty-gram from SuperMotors saying I'm using all their bandwidth, as I plan on posting quite a few. RE: Car sounds great; Well, thanks again. That's stock exhaust, ITG Pro Drop in, and "silencer" removed. That's it. I'm rather happy with it.

That's a fantastic idea... good to see people aren't afraid to make things up themselves.
How I love motorsport - well done, very inspirational! Tim

Great job! I second the spikey-thing pointed towards neck comments. Even if it was foam, it would still look freaky.
Nice work on the mount and great videos....I think now since you got that video camera, we're going to have to petition Tom to make a WD40's Video Shack forum to house all your "contributions" to the site! ;) |
