Mazda 3 speed or focus st

I currently have a 4 year old daughter and my last car I leased, I went with the safe family vehicle 2012 ford fusion, I miss driving a focus especially my svt and wanted to get a 2014 focus st or a Mazda 3 speed when my lease is up in February.

My question is what is the major difference in the two cars?

I have a fully equipped Focus SE and a good friend of mine has a top end tech package MS3. I feel like my car is more refined and daily driver friendly. The MS3 is nice and easy to modify, but the overall feel of my Focus is like comparing a 7 to an 8 (Bentley being a 10) on the matter of refinement.

There is no 2014 MS3. Its in the talks of one for the future - http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...e-works-report. So that should help you decide.
You can get a 2013 MS3.

The major difference is the Mazda is happy whereas the Focus is angry.

The performance is similar so it might be best to test drive both.

Absolutely wrong from my personal experience and everyone who has ever driven both.

Performance NUMBERS are similar, but the method of performance feel of the cars in comparison to each other is vastly different.

Yes, that's why I suggested to drive them both (which I have done).

I just bought a new 2013 speed 3, love it. drives better and handles and looks better than the focus ST imo. its currently my daily driver for work too. and its a fantastic car. and if I ever got the mod bug it responds well to modifications and tunes. but im having way to much fun with it as a daily driver. definitely helps when your driving in the fast lane and you got the ''johnny law'' people who do the speed limit to the t and you dont even have to downshift to FLY on by them. builds boost quickly and has a longer power band unlike the ST imo. $ for $ id go with the mazda

I had a speed 6. The engines are unreliable and have many problems. Read the forums and you will see. Of course we are yet to see with the ST though.

Yeah, that's what happens when (lots of) mods are performed by people that don't know what they're doing.

In any case, one would think that if there was an inherent design flaw with that engine, Mazda would have fixed it years ago.
