Try replacing the bushing first, if not the cables are probably no good, make sure that the cables are attached to the bracket properly too.

Yah, too much slop in the shifter & it won't move the cables as needed. No synchro for reverse, so that can't be an issue...

Sounds like the boot is off so you can see the mechanism. You'll notice that front to back movement of the lever moves one cable, and there are mechanisms to move the other with side to side movement. Cable moves one way when pushed left, then another way when pushed right, off of the center position. Sounds like you're not getting that second cable (L&R) to move as needed because of the broken pieces...

Luck!

More than likely a "Special Order" piece I'm afraid...

Tousley Ford in MN has been a good mail order source, "Steve" is our best contact there.

Village Ford is a new sponsor here, "Andy" is their rep. and they have a section on this site.

I'd look close for other worn/damaged pieces, just 'cause of the likely wait for parts. SVT should have a metal frame for the shift mechanism, that's a good thing since a number of the plastic frames on other models have been found to break causing similar issues.

Luck!
