2000 ZX3 -- Difference In Ignition Coil?

Okay, so a brief synopsis of my problem, followed by my question:

For about two months now, my ZX3 has been misfiring badly (at first). I have already replaced the fuel filter, spark plugs and spark plug wires. This has remedied about 95% of the problems I've been experiencing, however I still misfire under these two noticeable circumstances:

1. On level ground in 5th gear at approximately 40 mph
2. Uphill in 4th gear at approximately 40 mph

EDIT: The check engine light is NOT on.

From my own personal research and research on the forums here, I have narrowed it down to 2 likely candidates:

1. Ignition coil (coil pack)
2. Fuel pump

As the ignition coil is much more affordable and easy-to-replace, I am going to tackle that one first (as since I am a self-proclaimed "mechanical idiot", I have no way of actually testing voltage, etc. on the current one), and am currently on Autozone.com where I see 2 options: Duralast and Valucraft.

My two questions are this:

1. Could the ignition coil be causing the issues I have described?
2. Is there any performance difference between the Duralast and Valucraft coils?

About the only real reason I can see paying the extra $10 would be for the limited lifetime warranty versus the 1 year. But... that's why I'm asking here.

Thanks in advance!

Got to a dealer and get motorcraft coil. It's always better to go OEM instead of a cheap off brand.

I know dealer can be expensive, so get it from rockauto.com they will have it to you in less than two days.

I have been running with an Accell Super coil for over 5 years with no problems. Look into that, I think you can get them through Summit Racing or check out E-Bay once you know the correct part number. Hope this helps you out.

I was actually looking into the MSD performance ignition coil as well as the wire set that goes along with it.

I guess my question is this:

What exactly will be improved or gained with a performance ignition setup?

Update:

I just purchased both the MSD ignition coil (8241) and wires for $86 (shipping included) on eBay.

Question still stands, though:

What can I expect to be improved or gained?

I bought it used on eBay from a running 2.0L Zetec ZX3 which is the same one I have. So, it was basically parted off of a wrecked Focus, I assume.
